I was out working in the shed when I looked out and saw the Alaska Marine Highway passing in front of the house. This would have been the 2nd time in 25 years that I saw the ferry near the mouth of Silver Bay. I watched them off and on and noticed that they were not in and rush, they were just kind of stationary. A little later you could hear the PA system calling out drills and the life boats started going up and down. It was not until the Coast Guard helicopter started passing overhead that I grabbed my camera. It passed over several more times before hovering overhead long enough for me to snap a picture. I returned to my project in the shed, making a new desktop for my office, and checked in every now and then on the ferry. Original photo taken Feb 17th, 2005.
